‘Paired Headers’

As for ‘Headers’ but 2 Maroon players play against 2 Striped players.

Goal 8 yards apart. A throws to B to attempt to head past C and D under head height into the goal.

‘Return’ headers score 2 goals.

Key Factors:

To angle the header from B, A must:-

Get on line with the ball.

Rotate the head on contact with the ball, towards the goal.

Not attempt to angle the header by using the side of the head.

‘Throw/ Head/ Catch’

Organisation:

Area: 40 yds x 30 yds
Goals: 8 yds apart
Teams: 6 v 6 (no goalkeepers)
Scoring: Only headed goals can score

Rules:

1. The team in possession can only make progress by using the throw/ head/ catch sequence. No player is allowed to run with the ball whilst in possession.

2. The opposition can only gain possession by intercepting using a header from an opposition throw or a catch from an opposition header.

3. There are no goalkeepers. The ball may bounce, but if it rolls along the ground it becomes dead and the other team gains possession.

4. Throw the ball in for both corners and throw-ins.
