Dribbling - Practices

1. ‘4 Markers’

Organisation
Area: 10 yds x 20 yds markers A,B,C and D

Rules:

1. The Striped defender starts the practice by passing to the Blue attacker.

2. The Blue player’s target is to kick the ball against any of the four markers (A, B, C, D)

3. The Blue player must keep the ball inside the area.

4. The Striped player may challenge anywhere for the ball once the Blue player has received it.

5. If the Blue player goes into area 2 he/she cannot attack markers A or B.

6. Players change places after three attempts.

Key Factors:

Be positive from the moment you control the ball. Control the ball in front of you and attack the space either side of the defender on your first touch.

Attack with the ball in the direction of one of the markers.

Commit the defender to going one way and then use one of your favourite moves to wrong-foot him/her to accelerate the other way.

2. ‘ 3 v 3’

Organisation
Area: 30 yds x 20 yds.

Rules:

1. To score, one team must dribble the ball across the line which is behind the defenders (A/B or X/Y).

2. The team scoring keeps possession and plays in the opposite direction.

2. Key Factors:

Dribble when:

Space is available.

You are not outnumbered by defenders.
